The Dark Matter Surf Spinning Rod has been a long time in the making. We wanted to create a surf rod that would live up to the standards of the Dark Matter brand. What we came up with is a 10' rod constructed of Dark Matter Nano Carbon that is lightweight so you can fish it all day or night, and that has a powerful back end so you can turn fish if necessary. The Dark Matter Surf Rod has a slower taper than other surf rods and is great for fishing pencil poppers and regular poppers. It also excels with bucktails, tins, diamond jigs and other surf lures. We wanted something special for the guides so we outfitted it with Fuji K-Frame SiC guides. These tangle free guides will deliver longer casts than Alconite guides and the gun smoke frames look really good. For the grips we chose shrink tape over paracord which provides excellent grip, even in the worst conditions. The Fuji graphite reel seat feels good in your hand and will accommodate any modern surf reel. If you choose to fish a Dark Matter Surf Spinning Rod you are going to have a lot of fun on the beach. Load your favorite surf reel with braid and go have a great time!
Dark Matter Surf Spinning Rods have a carbon fiber design. They come with a 2-year Dark Matter Warranty. If the rod breaks due to an accident within two years of the purchase date we will replace it for $100. Limit one replacement per customer.

ANGLERS ARE ASKING
Yes—this is a classic 10' surf rod built specifically for Northeast surf fishing.
It’s designed to handle the typical conditions you’ll encounter on Long Island, New Jersey, and throughout the Northeast, making it a reliable, go-to option for everyday surf anglers.
A 10' rod gives you the right balance of casting distance, control, and versatility.
It’s long enough to reach feeding fish and manage waves, but still manageable enough to fish comfortably for extended sessions.
This rod is ideal for throwing plugs, tins, and other common surf lures from the beach.
It’s built for anglers who want a dependable setup that works across a wide range of conditions without needing multiple rods.
A 5000–6000 size spinning reel paired with 20–30 lb braided line is a great match for this rod.
This setup gives you the casting distance, strength, and balance needed for typical Northeast surf fishing conditions.
If you’re specifically throwing very large lures, fishing heavy current like the Cape Cod Canal, or need maximum casting power, a heavier rod would be a better fit.
This rod is designed for versatility—not extreme conditions.
