As we reach more anglers on social media and through word of mouth, we realized we needed an inshore series that more people could afford. We took our original inshore spinning series and with a bit of hard work were able to produce a series of rods that delivers high performance, modern style and a lot of value. Dark Matter SPS Inshore Spinning Rods were made for anglers who want a quality fishing rod that looks as good as it performs but won't break the bank. We took what we learned since our original inshore series launched and applied them to SPS. The results are nothing short of amazing. It starts with a Dark Matter blank that we honed to deliver the perfect actions for inshore saltwater fishing. You're going to love how it feels on the water! They are outfitted with guides that are designed for fishing braided lines, an excellent graphite reel seat and premium cork grips that are as comfortable as they are durable. We even put a polycarbonate gimbal on the H model.
At Dark Matter, style is just as important as performance so we took a classic design and brought it into the present. A coat of black paint with a glossy finish and light blue wraps with a hint of white on the guides makes these rods stand out in the crowd. Finished with those beautiful cork grips and you've got a timeless look that goes with every spinning reel.
Dark Matter SPS Inshore Spinning Rods are available in four models. Choose from ML, M, MH and H models in 7'. All models are one-piece. Buy one for yourself or your friend. Makes an excellent gift!
Our SPS Inshore Rods include manufacturer defect coverage for one year, plus our Rod Replacement Warranty. If an accident happens, we've got you covered.
The SPS Inshore was born from a simple frustration: most rods force you to pick between performance and price, between function and form. We wanted something different. A rod that fishes as good as it looks, that handles the everyday inshore grind with confidence, and doesn't make you choose between paying rent and getting quality gear. The SPS is that rod—built on real tapers, real strength, and real style.
ANGLERS ARE ASKING
Yes—this is exactly what the SPS Inshore Spinning Rods are built for.
They’re designed to handle a wide range of inshore fishing situations, whether you’re fishing from a boat, dock, or shoreline. This series is the embodiment of Dark Matter’s approach—Performance, Style, and Value—giving you a high-quality rod that fishes well, looks great, and doesn’t break the bank.
ML (Medium Light): Best for lighter applications like fluke, porgy, and finesse inshore fishing
M (Medium): A true all-around inshore rod for fluke, schoolie striped bass, and general use
MH (Medium Heavy): Great for larger striped bass, heavier lures, and more demanding conditions
H (Heavy): Built for bigger fish, stronger current, and situations where you need maximum power
If you’re unsure, the M or MH are the most versatile options for most anglers.
The SPS series is built around delivering real performance without the premium price tag.
You’re getting a rod with the right tapers, strong construction, and clean design—combined with a wide range of color options that let you choose something that fits your style. It’s a balance of performance, durability, and aesthetics that’s hard to find at this price point.
The M, MH, and H models are available in five additional color options, giving you the ability to match your setup to your personal style.
The performance of the rod is the same regardless of color—this is purely about preference. You get the same action, strength, and reliability no matter which version you choose.
If you’re looking for a highly specialized rod built for one specific technique or extreme conditions, this may not be the right fit.
The SPS series is designed to be versatile across a wide range of inshore fishing situations. If you need something very niche or heavy offshore-focused, a more specialized rod would be a better choice.
