That includes a super sharp custom Dark Matter hook that increases in size with every new weight in the series. This is the perfect hook for this type of bucktail because it provides the right amount of room for Gulp! or other trailers. We outfitted these bucktails with the correct amount of hair and mylar for additional reflection of light. This seems obvious, but so many bucktails have either too much hair or not enough.

These bucktails are designed to be fished using the jig and bounce technique—lifting the jig off the bottom and letting it fall back naturally as you drift.

This creates a realistic presentation that fluke respond to, especially when they’re feeding along the bottom.

The right weight depends on your depth, drift speed, and current.

Lighter weights are better for shallow water or slower drift, while heavier weights are needed to maintain bottom contact in deeper water or stronger current. Staying in contact with the bottom is key to fishing these effectively.

If you’re fishing in very light conditions where extremely small jigs are needed, or you’re not fishing near the bottom, these may not be the best option.
