APX combines a responsive glass/carbon composite blank with quality components and the distinctive styling Dark Matter is known for, creating an affordable rod that punches well above its price point.
Available in 5'11" and 6'11" models, APX Casting Rods are rated for 15–30 lb line and a versatile 3/4–8 oz lure range. The composite construction gives the blank the durability and forgiveness of glass while adding carbon for a lighter, more responsive feel. That combination makes APX a versatile choice for everything from casting lures to working jigs, fishing bait, and tackling a wide range of inshore and nearshore species. Every model has a hook keeper and gimbal.
Titanium oxide guides provide a smooth, durable surface for both braid and mono, while the EVA grips are comfortable, tough, and easy to maintain. A conventional gimbal gives the rod added security when fishing from a rod holder or fighting a better fish, and an integrated hook keeper gives you a convenient place to secure your rig between casts.
APX also looks different from the typical rod in its price class. Root beer and light blue accents give the rod a clean, modern Dark Matter look without going overboard.
